Reopening Task Force Message

The following is the updated policy as of April 7, 2022. The CBJ Reopening Task Force intends to update this policy again well in advance of the Fall season.

Any requests for exceptions to the policy, e.g., for special events, should be made to Andy Baskin (task force chair) and/or to Rabbi Sultar (task force member) for review by the Task Force. We have a policy of full transparency and will communicate to all involved should any exceptions be made.

The updated policy is outlined below.

REMINDER: For those Up-To-Date with Covid vaccination, please provide a copy (e.g., electronic or photo) of your vaccination card to the office. Many of our younger members were vaccinated since we last made this request.

As before,
1.   Adequate social distancing and hand hygiene should be maintained.
2.   Do not attend if you experienced any recent Covid symptoms or possible exposure to Covid.

For all gatherings, services, workgroups, and committees:

1.   All persons 12 and older must be Up-To-Date* with vaccination.
2.   An unlimited number of people may attend gatherings (I.e. the prior attendance limit has been removed)
3.   Masks (surgical grade, KN95, N95; not cloth) are encouraged, but not required.
4.   For gatherings/events when school children are included (e.g., Community Shabbat, Purim, and other special events): Unvaccinated children under the age of 12 years of age and all religious school students will continue to be masked while in the sanctuary and social hall when joining the congregation.

Please note: For Shabbat services (when not a school event), as all attendees are vaccinated, masks are optional for all ages. For example, a mask is optional for a vaccinated child attending with their family.

For gatherings/events that include food service:

Food service is allowable at all events when the following rules are followed.
1.   Kosher food may be shared in a way that reduces hand to mouth spread of germs.
2.   When unvaccinated children are present, the food must be served by a vaccinated person (I.e. unvaccinated children may not serve themselves), or alternatively, food may be served in pre-wrapped, take-away form.
3.   When people are moving from one safety protocol to another, e.g., from the sanctuary to the social hall where food service is available, there will be full transparency regarding the presence of unvaccinated children (unmasked while eating).

*To be considered Up-To-Date, you must be:
1)  Fully vaccinated (defined as 2 weeks after either 2 dose series of Pfizer or Moderna brand vaccine or after 1 dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine), AND
2)   If your initial vaccination was completed over 6 months ago, then a booster (Pfizer or Moderna) is also required.

Food Distribution Program

CBJ has partnered with the Jewish Relief Agency (JRA) to create a network for delivering groceries to housebound people in Phoenixville one Sunday a month.

We are now delivering to 30 households in the area each month and we will be expanding to 36 households.  In order to make this program as successful as possible, we need your help packing and delivering boxes! It's a small commitment with a big impact!

Next Event:
April 10th
10:30 AM

All congregants are welcome
